Role-Playing Districts
This might have been mentioned once or twice, but are there any plans to create Role-Playing districts? Maybe one or two per continent... could even have an option/preference that specifies you want to be put into an RP district when you enter a town.
Thank you!

You can check the guild wars website, but there are no plans to create any permanent districts of any type. Districts are created automatically depending on the number of players in any one town/outpost.

I know they are created dynamically, but they could still make some reserved districts (like the international one...) My post was more of a suggestion than a question.

me too. its kinda hard to roleplay while people are yelling "omg my char dances like a stripper, check me out!"
sure you can get into a rp guild but then you have to make arrangements to meet up etc. it'd just be nice to have an RP district below International, so you can head over and meet others who will only be talking in character.

Seen attempts to get these started elsewhere I beleive they are using District 5 at all locations so it might help to select that distirct to get more RP experience. So far this is a player only deal just trying to get more RP people together.

I think we can all decide to use one District to be RP (All the PSO fansites woudl designate one lobby to be 'theirs'), it'll just take time before everyone recognizes this. Maybe GWG can decide on a district to be the "offical" GWG RP district? Obviously, this would have to be one that most often is there...

Count me among those who would like to see this happen. Hopefully it will, but the main question is would the developers be able to commit the time and resources necessary to police/monitor these districts. It seems as if they would have to add some kind of filtering mechanisms to keep out those that don't want to adhere to the roleplaying "rules". Monitoring this sort of thing is a full time job .They would have to hire new employees just for this task alone.

I would love to see this happen, but I seriously doubt that anything will come from ncsoft to support this. But until we get a definate yes or no, let's pick a district and run with it!

Marus suggested District 5. Might as well try it if other players already started using it. I don't understand why there aren't specific purpose districts. Even a Trade district could have been nice too.
Xavier, the point of an RP district is not to keep out those who don't RP, it's to invite those who do. I don't want any GM police in this game, other games already have that and have annoyed many players. I trust the GW community to police itself. Anyway, non RP'ers will probably leave the district by themselves when they find out...

Only problem I see:
If they make a RP District, all the griefers will come there for no other reason than to disrupt your RP and upset you. Because ANet cannot/willnot enforce any RP rules on free servers.
I know what it's like on WoW, and they have the right to ban/suspend people for it. I can't even imagine the horror that it would be in GW.

RP district would be sweet. I don't even try to RP, but if there was a special place for it then I would participate. On another forum I saw a girl claiming District 3 as the 'unofficial' RP district. We need to coordinate here people hehe. Is is going to be 3 or 5?
EDIT: As for griefers and whatnot I think it's our job to ignore them. I have yet to use the /ignore feature but I assume it works.

yeah i dont see that rp district would need any kind of 'law enforcement'... heck we can just rp back at those morons til they get frustrated. Imagine it:
moron: yaaaaaa ya bunch of losers! hahaha
rp: i'm sorry my good fellow? do you have a problem with which you wish to discuss?
moron: LMFAO! WHAT A DORK!
rp: dork? What is this 'dork' you speak of? Is it a newer kind of dirk perhaps?
(moron gets fed up after a few more taunts and leaves)
OR as an alternative, we could simply add an extra chat channel, so now the ones to 'ignore' are: Local (out of char etc), Guild, Team, Trade, Emote, RolePlay
that way no one who hate rp has to listen to us, and we can turn on ignore to everything but the roleplay channel.

I've been in Districts 3 and 5 and they are pretty deserted. In a way it's a good thing for RPers but...where are the RPers? :P
District 5 especially was totally empty. Which one do we pick?

A RP district or meet area huh?
Sounds like a great idea to me. I just started this game the other day and I love it. PvP isn't really my thing sure but I LOVE just going around checking out the scenery, story and such. Then it hit me....well if you can team up why aren't more RPers taking advantage of grouping up without the griefers/etc? I mean it would seem like a great fit...the whole world to RP in without being judged or whatnot. I'm no great RPer but I do try to stay in character in other games if I ever grouped with those RPing.
So long story short I guess that RPers really don't know where to meet up with others like them. An RP area would be pretty cool.
I've played a lot of MMORPGs....some good, lots not so good. I always try to be respectful to everyone because like them I wanna have fun. I really like GW and would love to see it succeed. Not as a game for PvPers but a game for ALL. I would hate to see the RPers driven underground like they were in the early days of games like EQOA and FFXI. Some sort of district that's RP only or heck RP-preferred like EQ2 would be really nice. I hope it happens!

So what do you think that a "quick fix" to the problem would be to select a certain district to meet at? I don't know much about how districts work as I've just started playing only a few days ago.
